What is the Australian Jamboree?Well, it’s the biggest and best event in the Australian Scouting calendar… so big in fact, that it only runs every three years!
The 2013 Australian Jamboree (or AJ2013) is the 23rd Australian Jamboree, where over 13,000 Scouts and their Leaders will converge on Maryborough Queensland to camp for two glorious weeks of fun, fantastic adventure and friendship.
Scouts AustraliaScouting is a worldwide, voluntary, educational movement for youth aged 6 to 25.
Scouts Australia has around 70,000 members, making it the largest youth movement in Australia.
The Scout Program offers a flexible range of age-specific activities with an emphasis on useful skills, service to others, leadership and responsibility. Many Scout activities take place in outdoor settings with a spirit of adventure and challenge.
The Australian Scout program incorporates contemporary issues such as youth health, adventurous activities, vocational skills, leisure pursuits, environmental issues, and issues pertinent to Indigenous Australians.
The Aim of Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development of young people so that they take a constructive place in society as a member of their local, national and international community.
AJ2012 Aim and ValuesAJ2013 is committed to the aims and principles of Scouting which deal with the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual development of young people. All members of the Movement will remember AJ2013 as a successful event in which they were able to be fully involved.
Scoutswill remember AJ2013 because they had fun, felt good about themselves and others, having met new friends and learnt by doing. In saying this, the aim is for Scouts working in patrols:
Leaders, Rovers and Venturer Scoutswill remember the fun, their achievements and the cooperative and supportive environment. In saying this, the aim is for all Leaders, Rovers and Venturer Scouts to have a positive experience by:
Parents/Guardianswill recognise AJ2013 as a great experience and good value for their Scouts. In saying this, the aim is for parents to consider the experience worthwhile because:
The Queensland Executive Committeewill remember AJ2013 as a successful activity and have a desire to again host such a spectacular event.
The Communitywill be more positive about Scouting and more people will want to become involved in Scouting.
In saying this, the aim is to promote the Movement and create a positive impression of modern Scouting so that:
AJ2013 Target MarketScoutsScouts are boys and girls aged 10½ to 15 and are the most well-known section of the Scouting Movement – Scouts is where the action is!
This is one of the most switched on and aware group to market to, they are into all the latest technology advancements and influence the family purchases with their knowledge and passion for new ideas and products.
It is anticipated that approx. 8,500 Scouts from all around Australia will participate in AJ2013, there is often also a mix of International Scouts attending from a variety of countries including but not limited to the UK, USA, European and Asian communities.
Venturer Scouts and RoversThere are older Scout members attending AJ2013supporting the Scout Section in a variety of roles. These are the Venturer Scouts aged 14½ - 18 years and the Rovers aged from 18 – 26 years. The older Sections are very active in providing community service and leadership.
LeadersScout Leaders attending Jamboree age from 18 years up to the Baby Boomers and beyond, with both males and females as Leaders they come from a wide range of socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
In fact the leadership accurately reflects the diversity of the Australian communities, many have come from the other States and Territories and it is anticipated that approx. 4,500 Leaders will support the Youth Members during AJ2013.
ParentsWith almost 70,000 Scouts Australia families, the opportunity to promote your company and services is a valuable investment.
Many families will visit Queensland from all over Australia taking the chance to holiday and come along on Visitors days where traditionally there have been an extra 10,000 people on site.

It also provides you with an opportunity to support Scouting by encouraging leadership, citizenship, personal development and resilience training.
